Here is a great opportunity i think for all clubs that are members of Tread Lightly to be able to get a small monetary grant to do some work in URE or at any other trail system for that matter. I am talking my club into it right now. It is not alot of money but it would help out alot out here on any trail system for getting more stuff done or feeding the troops that show up to a workday of yours or the USFS one. It could also help get you some tools to work with out on the trails like a good auger or drill or cordless impact.

Please take the time and look at this. And forward it on to anyone you want please. It can only help our hobby even if it is not used on our trails in URE.

Trying to get all clubs to do this. It would be a good thing for our hobby / passion.

Thanks for doing this.

This is from that page.

Tread Lightly! recognizes that one of the best ways to promote responsible outdoor recreation is to support enthusiasts in the stewardship of their favorite areas. With the help of licensing agreements from some of Tread Lightly!’s top partners, the Tread Lightly! grants are designed to help individuals and groups organize clean-ups, trail maintenance work days and other small stewardship projects. The average grant is under $500. Those funds can be used for everything from feeding volunteers to purchasing equipment, trash bags, and tools.

Who is eligible?
You must be a Tread Lightly! dues paying member to apply.

So from reading that , yes it can be done by an individual.

I guess I need to have my eyes checked, I completely missed that somehow! :p Thanks for the reply, my reason for asking is that I'm not in a club but would like to try and secure some funds as an individual to put toward the efforts at Uwharrie. If there is something in particular that you think would be most helpful based on your knowledge of what's needed out there - i.e: a specific project, tool, material, etc. - please feel free to let me know, otherwise I'll wing it. :)

Thanks again!

3 creek crossings need culvert at this time. worst case would be 48" x 30 ft. I have not priced it yet but there will also need to be contractors to install and we can finish it up....

OK - I can definitely focus my application on this, just send me some details on the trail, what's needed, etc. via message here on the forum or email. Thanks!

Not to speak for Chris but there are 2 crossings on Dutch John and one on Wolf Den that need help.
