I know a lot of people on here are from the Western part of the state. Being on the coast I had never been to Boone, NC.

I took my family for the past few days and had a great time. Everyone I meet was very nice. The town and surrounding area was very nice also. Really wish I had more time to explore and a 4x4 to do it with.

If I didn't work on big boats for a living I might move that way.

Gotta agree for sure, wife and I are in Boone right now celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary. We come up at least 3 times a year, and its where she went to college and we got married.

Curious, where were you married?
We were there for school in the 90s, had family there until this past year. Married at the Boone Church of Christ on the way into town off 421.
We always joked about doing it at the (teeny tiny) Chrystal Wedding Chapel on the way out to blowing rock... you'd be lucky to squeeze more than 4 people in that thing!

We live close, but still enjoy a quick trip to the area. Blowing Rock is typically our destination to walk around in. Last time we were there I talked to a bored realtor. He said most of their business comes from the Winston/Greensboro area, not Charlotte. I thought that was interesting.

Well, it was actually in Valle Crucis, St Johns Church. Off the beaten path, not sure how the wife found it. Its a really pretty, quaint old church. No air conditioning though, and it was a humid, 85 degree day when we got married.
