Anybody been to the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord? We are going for a night this weekend for our anniversary. Expensive as all get out, but the wife is happy and I only have to drive a few minutes to get there.

I installed the beer system at the main bar upstairs and at the pool bar. Does that count?

Ill really be surprised if this place stays open for long......Concord is not exactly the happening place (no offense to you cabarrus county people) as I work up there every day.

I went to the one in Williamsburg. they are great if you have kids....and like water. The water park (indoors) is great....84 degrees year round. Its loud...but you get use to it.

even if there in nothing in concord (I stayed there last summer..and I have to agree..nothing there) the hotel is a destination in itself. its designed for you to show up, stay, and leave only when your time is up. they had a pizza hut, buffet/restaurant, pastry/snack/coffee shop, hotdog/hamburger stand, clothes shop, etc on site....never had to leave in 3 days....that was nice (btw, I have 2 kids).

I just can't see the local economy supporting this.....I mean you have 3 events a year that bring in large amounts of people and those are the races...I hope those 3 events of the year keep this place running.

I'm not sure it will last either, they only let guests play in the water park, so the only way locals can play is to pay for a room. The only reason we are going is because we got a deal for about 1/2 off. Once they go to full price, it is almost $400 a night and there is no way we'll ever go back for that price. Some argue that race people will stay there, but I call BS on that one. Race fans that can afford that price are the ones driving the $100K RV and don't need a place to stay.

Very well said....I don't blame you a bit for going for 1/2 off. I would def do that. And you are right, the race fans who can afford that will be sating in the 100K RV's

Imagine kids swinging from the rafters in the lobby...that is the night life there. Take lots of money!! My kids went with their grandmother...they said the water park was a blast

My boss and her husband and nephew went a few weeks back. They had a blast and from the pictures it looks pretty sweet. She said that she would feel really awkward there if they didn't have their nephew with them though.
