I have to be honest, I would've thought Asheville. According to some poll from some people, They say Greensboro, with Bakersville being the most conservative. I missed where they said what color's meant what but with Greensboro sharing the same colors on the map as Seattle, Berkley CA and New York City, I am going to assume that color meant Liberal .

In respect to folks in Asheville, enjoy the new neighbor, I am sure him moving about town won't cause any issues with traffic or Dudes in suits with ear pieces.

I saw that too, and uh, hell no. Whoever made that determination is retarded. Asheville and Boone are neck and neck for most liberal. Wilmington is probably a close 3rd.

I had never been to Boone until last March. Took me about 3 minutes to get the same impression...

Yeah... I don't see it in Greensboro... Boone, yeah... Asheville is worse...

Raliegh area comes in 3rd imo... then wilmington haha

At least we all agree that the "study" is garbage. Between Asheville, Boone, Raleigh, Chapel hill, and Wilmington, that puts Greensboro at least down to #6.

I'd agree with that reasoning. Although sad to say Durham probably falls in between Chapel Hill and Wilmington. Pushing Greensboro to at least 7th

All the mentioned liberal towns/cities have colleges.....................coincidence? ................don't forget Carrboro it's small, but full of fruitcakes.

All this study/survey proves is that the only people who took it were college students.

That would be true. I recently talked to my aunt and uncle about colleges, made them understand that UNCG is really gay. Only place I ever saw a dude dressed like a girl where people acted like it was acceptable.

@tireburner1975 I bet you remember that night. Jeebus

I *think* the key here is the size of the town and surrounding area and general contrast between the two. E.g. Boone and Asheville both very liberal, however just get a little bit outside of the city limits into the "real country" surrounding them and the culture is quite the opposite... and there just aren't that many people living in the cities... so I'm guessing that washes out the grouped data a bit. That is just a guess

The liberals are drawn to the areas by the colleges and the liberal arts/philosophy they teach. They like the N.C. scenery, weather etc. and many don't leave after they graduate.

Always passed through, never hung around haha. I was wondering when one of the Raleigh crew would speak up.

I saw that this morning also and was suprised to not see Asheville on the list.I was thru there Tues and decided to go down Amboy rd around by the river to Merimon Ave.I havent been down that way in a couple of years and was kinda surprised to see how artsee/fartsees the area had become.

My wife and I were in Boone Wednesday for a zip line tour, and afterwards we ate lunch at a place called Coyote Kitchen. After a few minutes she looked at me and said "It's like it's hippy day or something."

I laughed and told her that we were in Boone, and every day is hippy day.

But that place sure is good. I like Boone. I can deal with the hippy liberals much better than the city liberals.
