Finally got a ride in here in California. There are beautiful places to go but they are all 3 or more hours away from where we live. I forgot how spoiled I was to have Uwharrie 45 minutes away. This is at Gold Lake, California, an off-road park. The campground is only accessible via 4x4 vehicles. We camped overnight and then spent Saturday wheelin in the hills. We stopped for lunch at a lake at a higher elevation than the lake we were camped next to. These are just a few of the 350 pictures my wife took.Make sure to click on the thumbnail for a full size picture.

We are living in Livermore, about an hour East of the Bay Area. This was about three hours from home. Next weekend we are headed to Rubicon for 2 or 3 days.

We spent a week on the Rubicon (I think it was the week of or before Labor Day) several years back, what an amazing place! Don't forget to bathe/swim in the lakes... it's all snow melt and 48* even when it's 95 out. Check with a ranger or someone else local-ish, because sometimes they limit use of the lakes because of algae or whatever.
