grindin noise in front end

i have a 78 chevy truck when i lock the hubs in and turn the wheel it makes a grindin noise in the front end i ahve heard it could be the hubs are bad or wheel joints has anyone else had this problem i really need to get it fixed

if it is a constant noise then it probably is wheel bearings or u-joints. You could also have a damaged spider gear in the diff.

I'd probably diagnose the problem before i swapped out the whole axle. eg... check wheel bearings, u-joints, and pull the cover to see if there is any obvious damage.

im gettin an estimate on gettin it rebuilt if i come out cheaper just swappin it out ill let u get the old one no problem

i have another dana 44 front end but the bolts are broke off on ring gear u would have to get new bolts and try to pick some the old ones out with a hammer and chisel lol
