Can anyone recommend a water hose nozzle that actually lasts more than a year????

I've bought 6 or so in the last 4 years, they all give out for one reason or another. The last one lasted 5 months or so. It was the next to most expensive one Lowes had. I didn't get the most expensive one because it had the "Materials in this product are known to cause cancer in the state of California" tag. The one I bought had this thin metal interior/piping with a lot of plastic overmolding. The thin metal broke....... I hate to say it, but probably another American ding dong engineer came up with BS idea....... I see some Engineers at work with no real experience in their field, or any field for that matter. We had one that couldn't change out a drill bit because he didn't how how to use a chuck/key - I'm not kidding. We also have another product line at work gone to sh*t because of PPD (Piss Poor Design). OK I'm done.

Don't go to Lowe's, remember, they are Wal Mart owned. Cheapest product possible. Go to Ace or True Value and buy one.

Lowe's is in fact heading toward cheap china crap.
But they are NOT Wal MArt owned....

You sure about that? I read somewhere the Walton kids owned Lowes. Don't remember where though...

Lowes Hardware is not owned by Walmart (Sams Club is probably the one your thinking of)

Lowes was founded in North Wilkesboro back in 1946, and is still its own company.

I got one at one of the big box stores that reads "goodyear" (yes, like the tire) on the grip.. it's a straight nozzle and though the color has faded, it's a few years old and takes a beating. (I drove over it with the cruiser once or 3 times..)

Well, I stand corrected, I know I read it somewhere, but it's been a while ago.

My favorite is still the brass pointy one that you twist to open etc.. Mine is 8+ years old and has been outside its entire life. It still works the same as day 1...

Im guessing this thread is a testament to how well the standard straight nozzle works, rather than those crap squeeze types..

Guess you know what to buy now eh?

Yeah, I do miss the quality squeeze nozzles

get you an industrial one, the one we use to clean the floors in a kitchen daily is not pistol shaped but straight and you turn the tip of it to the pressure you want. works good

LOL...Brass is the material "KNOWN TO THE STATE OF KALIFORNICA." Just don't file down your brass to eat or snort it and you will be fine.

as with others, the only indestructible ones I've ever used were:

and they're about $4

I've got one of the twist ones also and it's old but it still works. I got another one from lowes that's a pistol style grip and works just like the nozzle on a fire hose. You twist the end of it depending on how wide and far you want the stream to go and you pull/push a handle on top to open/close it. I also has a seperate turn piece towards the back of it that allows your to dercease/increase pressure

X2 I bought 2, one for the front and back yards over 8 years ago and still using the same ones. Works just as good as the day I bought them, even with getting caught up in the lawnmower on more than one occasion

I was originally gonna say that its been driven over, dropped, whipped or anything else you can think to do to it when its either on the hose or kicking around near the water spigot. But I didn't think anyone would believe me :D

And you guys are right about piss poor engineering. Its bad when I look at shit and think how much they are hurting the company and/or brand name by not making a quality product. Made in the USA used to mean something. Sometimes I wonder about that now..

Come to think of it I found a little metal twist one everyone has been talking about that is probably older than most of the people on this board at my grandparents house. Still works like a new one
