Decided to improve my 37" MTRs a bit. Used an Ideal Groover with a #5 blade, graciously loaned by k5turnwarren on the forum.

Considered leaving this pattern, but then figured why only go half way...

I've loved how the MTRs have performed overall, but they're getting a bit lower in tread depth after 4 years of trail runs and some street time with a spool. I expect all those new biting edges should be noticeable on the trail. Hitting Uwharrie on Monday, so there will be a report when I get back.

how does your shoulder feel now. ?

i got my own hot knife. i have done a few sets of 38" and 1 set of 42"

its fun for the first 1/2 of the first tire.

Man I really ddig the new looks...be interested in how they work...GOOD JOB!

when i did my 38" swamper tsl tires i ran 25 psi for reg use and thay were on a 83 k10 with 1tons and around 7k lbs.

i did the typical swamper grove job. center blocks cut to 3 blocks and hog out the wear bars and small grove on the outer lugs.

few weeks later i went out on a big snow run uphere in ny state. i was the big boy as to all the rest of the toyotas and nissans. thay had me break the trail.

wow was i happy with the better traction comp to before .

did not ever wish i had not done the grove job.

I am interested to find out if you run into any chunking issues on the outer lugs. Theory being if you run the grooves all the way through it will lead to chunking. This has been found to be true on the softer rubber Bias Ply TSLs at least. If they don't chunk there will be a few more grooving options on the outside lugs of similar radial m/ts.
