Been in touch with a guy who may be doing some work on my jeep. I need a 1 ton steering kit put on my YJ. I already have the flattop knuckle and everything. Also I need brake lines ran to a d44 and a d60 came out of a 78/79 f250 I don't exactly know how that works. just don't have the time to deal with it right now working full time and taking night classes. Just want my jeep to be about done. How many hours of work you think, guy said it would be considered custom work.

Are you trying to gauge price by his rate and a estimated time? Unless it is a bolt on or replacement part it's custom. Better to discuss, arrive at estimate and price within reason. Many things in this field are way open to time and interpretation.

You say you already have the flat top knuckle, but has it been milled flat, drilled, and tapped for the right bolt pattern and size? If not, that requires the entire hub/bearing assembly to be pulled off, the knuckle pulled off, and the knuckle to be machined. Then, of course, put it all back together. And while it's off, it's a good time to inspect/replace wheel bearings, seals, and ball joints. If the guy has done it before, it will be no problem, and should only take a few hours. If not, it will be a big learning experience for him and you may even have to buy a new knuckle to fix the one he screwed up.

It's already milled and drilled ready to go
