Ah gotta love these threads. Unsure if this is GCC or Tech?

I have an opportunity to pick up and/or sell a '73 Bronco.
Values on these things are all over the map, but seems even a rust bucket sells for more than your average Toyotao_O

I haven't seen it in person, this is all from a cousin who has it.
It's been sitting pretty much un-driven for a few years, but cranks and runs OK. Unlikely to be streetable for a long distance but supposedly runs ok.
Orig 302, 3 spd, twin sticks, Chevy front disc brakes, beefy aftermarket bumper + winch, spool rear, LSD front, OE axles (assume 9"+ D44) w/ 4.11, 33" Swampers and mild lift. Aftermarket large gas tank (20-25 gal?).
Has a bikini top, the doors have been cut off at the frame, also has bard top BUT the channel has been fiberglassed to cover the mounts (??) so it won't mount back on (no idea how hard that would be to un-do?).
Supposedly minimal rust, it was cheaply re-done a few years ago... unfortunately I don't know what kind of cover-up that was.

It's dirty from just sitting. I'm thinking after some cleaning and work over it could be reasonably streetable and worth more. It's basically a ready-made beater offroad rig now.

So what say ye? $5k? $6k once cleaned up?

I would look carefully at the bodymounts and poke around underneath the body w a screwdriver/hammer. I know a guy who had a rusty one that the body came loose on a hillclimb and the dash smashed his fingers on the steering wheel when the body shifted!!! They are way fun to drive w the V8 and ride nice w the coils. Awesome beach buggy or trail rig!!

East coast EB prices have become ridiculous lately. I'd say as far as your typical "craigslist asking price" that would be around 8k. If those kinds of mods have been done, the owner likely knows a fair amount about broncos.

EB prices are fawking STUPID high.

As for the doors... Removable window frames were an option for a couple of years. Sure they are cut?

As for price... Glad I kept at least 1.

Careful on parts prices, especially Body parts. a friend has one and I listened to him last night talk about how a new steel body for his was going to run $7000+ I couldn't believe the prices for panels and body and grill that he was finding.

Hard to say without more informative pics. fyi, rust buckets are going for 2-2500. Just scoring a decent running/driving rig would cost you in the $5k range to start it seems. Prices have gone through the roof indeed. Me, if you could get it for 2-3k, that'd be a no brainer. To make money, anything over 4k will depend greatly on body condition and I don't like the looks of the front fender/door fitment at all.

If you can paint it, slap some fiberglass fenders, and drop a crate motor in it and find some stooge to grin for the cameras you could get 40k for it plus a 5k bar tab like they did on fast and loud, lol. Just stupid money some of these go for if you have the coin to fix it up completely.

wanna make a quick sale? pm me a price. I've been looking for several months. Most were more gone than what I wanted or to far into restoring or done. I want one for me and my son to rebuild together. If your not interested in sellin early I understand.

or the top view of the hood fender to fender. just saw that after re reading your post

yeah, i saw that, too. the nose on these things is pretty much non-adjustable. to an extent, you can 'rig' the panels with shims, but they weren't done like that from the factory. to have one done right takes a LOT of time and effort. if you look on the driver's side, you can see the horizontal body line on the front fender dipping down as it meets the door. that is usually not good news. for a trail rig or maybe even a rough driver, the thing would be just fine. she won't make a nice truck without a lot of work and parts though. if you've got the time, funds, and workspace, it should be a good project for sure!

back on topic, do yourself a favor don't buy it! even a truck like this will taint your yota palate and you'll never be the same person after. real trucks don't come with 4 cylinders :D

^^^I was gonna say if you buy it, you might not want to sell it after you "clean it up" and drive it a while. I fell in love w a buddies and wanted to buy it many yrs. ago. I loved my Toyota then, but also have a thing for Fords and had a blast driving his auto, mild 351W powered Bronco on sand roads and the street near Hubert N.C.

ya that's what I'm the most worried about. I need another project like a hole in the head...
