I have some recentered 12 bolt H1's with TWF PVC inserts and military goodyear MT/R's i am trying to mount.
I got the inserts in the tires no problem, but I am finding it nearly impossible to bolt the outer rim/ring onto the inner rim. Each time I try to snug the bolts down I am left with at least an 1/8th inch gap between the two halfs.
Do you think my inserts are too wide? Guy I got them from said he was running them in the military BFG Bajas so I would think the sidewall should be the same for my tires and his.
what width should my inserts be? 7 inches? 7,1/4?

Any advice appreciated, I am new to this whole H1 deal.

Your inserts are too wide likely. You can call TWF and they can likely tell you the proper width.

I would guess that your gap when right is close to the width they need to be cut down

Talked to them today and they said they need to be 6,3/4'' and that's what they are... :wtf:

Studs, made sure everything was in line and used a few lug nuts to center the outers on the studs.
I finally got one of them to work, I used some "tire wet" as lube it's silicone based I think. It's holding air good now. (Also got a larger wrench)
What do I torque them to?

8 bolt wheels are 65 ft-lbs
12 bolt wheels are 125 ft-lbs

That's per the military service manual. You're also supposed to tighten them in two sequences. So the 8 bolts, come up to 55 ft-lbs in the first go-round, then come back a second time for final torque. 12 bolts go to 85 ft-lbs first, then 125.

Only the military could come to the conclusion that you need 65ftlbs for 8 bolts and 125ftlbs for 12 bolts <SMH>
