h1 with rubber run flats - o ring or not?

took the rubber run flats out of my 12 bolts this weekend and to my surprise they didn't have orings in them. whats up with that?

put some in when going back together though.
 
there was 5# of black goo inside
 
The black goo is "grease" to lubeicate the runflat and tire to try and prevent friction when running the tire flat on the runflat. It works to a point but will eventually catch the tire on fire (ask me how I know lol). Get a good heavy mix of dawn dish soap and rags you never want to use again and it comes out "fairly" easy. As far as the O-ring we have been in a pinch before on deployments and used silicone/RTV but always use a O-ring if available.
