Haiti

When I was in the Dominican Republic doing medical mission work last summer, even the DR people would talk about how shitty Haiti is. And this was coming from people who had NOTHING sharing the same island!

Edit. Dang didnt know it was a quake thought it was the usual violence.
 
anyone who believes in God please pray for my mom, she landed in port au prince 45 minutes before the quake hit and we have not heard from her. if anyone has any information please let me know, we have been unable to contact any of our friends in haiti since the quake

She wasn't linked to the childrens orphanage. I know there are churches from Raleigh that support it along with ours.

I think I may want to go to Hati. I'm sure that a person with my building skills could do some good down there.
 
If you're thinking of going, GO! You'll never regret it! I went to New Orleans after Katrina. I wasn't sure at first and don't get me wrong it was hard work, but the people I met and the hope that so many had was priceless to experience.

i also went to mississippi right after katrina, it was hell. still no word about going down there but my mom is flying back tomorrow
 
I have heard a lot about how the aid and food can't get to the people from the ports or airport. It would be cool if in some way get a group together and ferry down and transport the goods with a group of trucks.
 
I wonder who is making the rebuilding money. You know someone is going to get rich with govt money. I would be willing to have a piece of the pie, but it would need to be a nice slice!
