CAMPING/LODGING

The Arrowhead Campgrounds are almost full at this point. When they do fill up the Badin Lake Campgrounds are another great option. If you have any questions during the event stop by Campsites 35 or 37.

GUIDED TRAIL RIDES

Friday and Saturday we will have guided trail runs. These aren't anything too special, just a fun way to get to wheel with an group of varied rigs/people. We use the Bath House at the Arrowhead Campgrounds as the line up/meet up point. From the meet up time posted we wait 10-15 minutes then head out. We do try to keep things safe/organized having everyone on the same CB Channel, and having a designated Trail Leader and Trail Gunner. Here is the schedule (same for both days).

1000 - (10AM): MORNING TRAIL RUN
1500 - (3PM): AFTERNOON TRAIL RUN
2030 - (8:30PM) NIGHT TRAIL RUN

GROUP DINNERS

Friday night at campsites 35/37 we will be holding a traditional group dinner. We will be serving Fajitas Texanas (Steak, Chicken, and Shrimp), with lots of topping options, plus Pumpkin Pie for Dessert. There is a $5 donation fee to help cover the cost of the food. To sign up for the Dinner post up here or send me a PM. When you stop by with the $5 your name will be checked off the list.

Saturday night we convoy out to Zeno's Italian for Dinner. We line up at the Bath House at 6PM, then about 10 minutes later head out. Eating at Zeno's has become a tradition in a couple of the wheeling circles so most are familiar with their setup. If its your first time you are in for a treat. They offer huge portions of great tasting food for very reasonable prices.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER NOTICE:
As always, this will be a completely un-sponsored and unofficial ‘event’... No clubs or organizations will be overseeing the activities… This is simply going to be a bunch of friends and online acquaintances getting together for a weekend of fun, good food, and lots of off-road amusement.

ALL attendees will be utterly and solely responsible for themselves and the guests within their individual group(s) (including all vehicles and equipment), and shall be expected to abide by the laws, rules, and policies set-down by our true hosts, the United States Forestry Service and the people of the great state of North Carolina.

Have you double checked the arrowhead campsite webpage? The back half of the campground is closed for renovation Janet said.I think sites 27 and up were off limits.

Our club will be there. we reserved sites 3&4. Not our normal ones but thats all we could get for the weekend that were side by side and large enough to accomidate a large group.

I am guessing you are talking about this:

Campsites # 28 through 44 at Arrowhead Campground will be temporarily unavailable for reservations from Aug 31, 2010 until further notice due to upcoming electrical upgrades being installed at campsites. Arrowhead CG will be available for first come first serve until the work is complete. Reservations that are made by Aug 31, 2010 will be honored during this time.

I actually had not heard about this. But no worries because of the part I put in bold. Our reservations were made long in advance (before Aug 31st). Of the 15 campsites we have reserved 12 of them are in the upper loop. The upper loop is usually reserved long before August 31st/September 1st rolls around. So even without the renovations the entire upper loop is just about booked (minus maybe 3 sites). Still leaving the current lower sites available.

So there are some sites left at Arrowhead, but if you have a large group going you may have to look at Badin Lake.

Dinner Reservations lol.

Hey,
My apologies if I’m late with the dinner reservations lol. I have 8 I need to reserve under my name Jonathan Garrison. We will be staying at camp site #11. Looking forward to this!!!

I am camping with a group of freinds at Badin lake, but will definately try to join you for some of the rides. I havent been out to uwharrie in my own vehicle, and am fairly new to the off road hobby, so i look forward to meeting everyone and getting on the trails.

Glad to hear some more people will be out there. Looking forward to getting to wheel with you guys on the trails.

For those interested in the group dinner Friday night again sign ups are open until Thursday. Its a $5 donation per person for the dinner to help cover food costs.

The Forest Service trail work day will conflict with the first half of Saturday for me. So you may not see me with the group until later that day.

Hmm, I hope I can make this event. I'd like to make this but more importantly I want to make Rockvember.
If I do come, I would probably be bringing my Mother as she has been wanting to experience what Uwharrie is like. (Already had my Dad there)
So I'll keep in touch and let you guys know if I'll be attending.

Sound like a great time

Didn't catch this event until now. This explains why the camp sites were all booked. Sounds like a blast. I'm new to Uwharrie. I have done some 4 wheeling on old CJ's a whille back and consider myself still new to moderate. I'm bringing my 2010 Sahara unlimited. It's still a virgin to trails and stock. I will have my 5yr. old son and want to have fun, without tearing my Jeep up of scaring the @%&* out of my son, is this possible? As I said I'm new to Uwharrie.

It's very possible.
I've got a 2008 Sahara and have taken it to Uwharrie 4 times now. If I go, I'd be glad to meet up with you and show you some trails you could easily do, and that won't scare your son.

Gonna be a great weekend!

I was looking forward to getting to Uwharrie and riding a bit. I did have concerns, that it might be a quiet weekend and if I had trouble, I might have to wait a while for a passerby. This all sound great. Lots of other 4 wheelers and chance to make new friends. See you all there!!!!

DRAIDER90...Hope it's not to late. I would love to attend the Friday dinner. There would be myself and my 5 year old. I'll bring my $10.(more if necessary).

Thanks. I have heard about falls dam and wolfs den. They sounded like good starters. Maybe I'll see ya there.

me and maybe the woman really want to come down but the concern is with a relatively stockish jeep if there will be too many groups out there and not a lot of patients for newcomers to ure.

I fairly new as well, Never been to Uwharrie. So far the reception I'm getting on here is great. Folks very willing to guide and help. Come on down!!! See ya there.

New member here. Just moved to NC and planned a camping weekend with the wife, then I found your site and this post. I'll be driving up Saturday morning so I'll def try and join up with one the groups.

If you are new to the sport of wheeling or just new to Uwharrie no worries. There will be plenty of groups to ride with. Considering the majority of the guys showing up are stock to mild built you won't have any problems finding a group to ride with. And we always make sure in our groups we at least have one person that knows that trails fairly well to play trail leader. So you don't have to worry about falling into a group and getting lost etc.

When you guys are out there if you EVER have any questions don't hesitate to ask the guy in the little 2 door red box (Raider) riding around (me).

SIDE NOTE: IF ANYONE SENT ME A PM ON HERE ABOUT THE TRIP BUT COULDN'T BECAUSE MY INBOX WAS FULL I EMPTIED IT OUT A BIT.

Glad we got more people! More the better! If a group needs a trail leader Id be more than glad to help out, I know em in and out lol. I'll be in the white 2dr suzuki sidekick. Looking forward to seeing everyone down there!

No problem, glad you can finally make it out there.
If you'd like my number to make arrangements, just post back and I'd be happy to give it to you.

Can't resist, I'll be at the double parking lot as usual with a surprise on the cart this weekend!:bounce2:

You know a good group of us will be hitting the double parking lot after the main part of the workday that Saturday. A work day isn't complete without some of THE BEST HOTDOGS IN THE PARKINGLOT!

Sidenote: I should have plenty of supplies left for the Nuclear Hotdog Challenge if anyone is up for it.

Another side note: If you sign up for the Fajita dinner with your $5 donation Friday night, you are automatically entered into the Flaming Fajita Eating Contest if you so wish.

Just got home with the Jeep. Had it back in the shop AGAIN.
They had to pretty much rebuild the whole front differential and replace bearings in all the wheels.
On the way home, I notice the Jeep start to shake starting at around 35mph. The shaking isn't anything like death wobble, it's just a hard vibration coming from the front.
A loud rumble can also be heard starting at around 55mph and gets louder as you go faster (go figure)

Anyone have any ideas on what is causing this? Could it be the new parts have yet to be broken in, tires out of line, anything.
I checked the PSI and both front tires are at an even 37

I still hope to come down tomorrow depending on how the 1st half of the trip goes.

Hey guys I had a lot of fun, meeting some new people and seeing some familiar ones. I had fun wheeling with everyone and hope to do it again. I'm not sure were you guys want to post up your pics and links of the weekend but since I had to leave early I will just throw my picks in this thread. I can move them later if someone starts a new thread for the trip pics. My video will take time to go threw if anything came out I'll post it on youtube and drop a link in here. I only took a few pics but here they are
