Anybody got one? Ive been thinking about getting the RE kit, but havent really heard much in the way of people actually usng them. Is it worth it? Seems like it would give a good bit more control in the rocks.

I just installed one the other day and haven't got to try it out yet but i'm going to this weekend. All I used was a push/pull choke cable for a lawn mower and it works jus fine. I just had to weld a little mount to my shifter but was easy to install. I think it will be well worth it after the hill climb on step at Mt. City last week. I climbed it w/ no brakes almost and had to stop a few times in the middle of the trail. That's when I decided to install a hand throttle.

I have ran one on the last 3 sticks I have had. It is the only way to rock crawl with a stick. I can have precision control over my jeep. I would rather run a stick with a hand throttle than an auto any day of the week. One of the best mods you can do in my opinion.

Looking at your sig you're geared in the 5.38flavor... what about your Tcase?

As for the hand throttle I found it awesome... several reasons... functions as cruise control just rolling around on the trails.... great for steep ledges, etc... if your geard low enough you can just bairly bump it in throttle and let it go.

The sami I had was so low it really was only useful as a cruise control and vertical stuff.... everything else in low/low it just wasn't needed...

Right now the t-case is still geared stock, but very soon (hopefully this or next month) Ill be putting in an Atlas, probably the 5.0. I think im gonna go ahead and get the throttle, seems like a cheap/easy mod that will make a big difference.

I use mine for up hill starts and for when the foot starts bouncing to much. It's just a brake lever I can throttle with my thumb.

I generally use the RE throttle cable kit just because it has the ability to tighten down and lock it in for stuff like raising the engine RPM's for winching.

i put one in last year and love it. it lets me ease onto the throttle before taking my foot off the brake.
i just picked up a bicycle gear shifter and some enclosed cable from a local bike shop, then rigged it to the throttle body (which was the hardest part) def cheaper than the RE one, i spent less than $10

can't you just hook the cable to the back of the accelerator pedal instead of having to go clear through the firewall and hooking to the throttle body/carb?

Yea that would probably easier.

This may show my nooby-ness. What`s the RE kit?

I've got one of those I never used if someone wants it for $10!

It's a new RE hand throttle still in the box that I never used.

Ditto... just had 1 of the "mtn. bike heads" I work with grab 2 "RH" shifters (apperantly the RH shifters have a longer throw than the LH?), 2 tandem-length cables, 14' of casing, and the little bits to cover the ends for $20.

Should be enough to do the Moss & Taters "Timex"
