So yesterday I went a bought a metal chopsaw from HF, on sale, figured WTH. Printed off one of the 20% off "never expires" coupons posted here (and other places).
As usual, it didn't scan (never does). Even when cashier typed in the UPC manually, didn't work (in the past, that has). After the inevitable 120 sec of confusion, she grabs another guy (who at least acted like a superior.... and clearly no day older than 18 and looking like he hasn't slept ina week...) who took the printout and looked it over several times.
I of course tried to explain that the barcode didn't work due to crappy printer resolution, etc...
He said they've been told many times "by corporate" not to take any coupons if they can't be scanned. They're having too many complaints about illegitimate coupons being distributed, people are posting them up online everywhere on other sites...they even emailed an example where somebody had photoshopped it to say 50% off. I thought that was funny.
Well since I knew I was kinda trying to screw them, I didn't argue too much... and come on a chop saw for $60 is way to cheap anyway. And it didn't help that I just took in teh whole sheet of paper and the lower corner had the URL on it (which clearly wasn't HF).
Just thought I'd pass that along...
