Hard start when warm

I thought my problem was vapor lock, but after moving the fuel lines around and a little exhaust wrap I am starting to look into other things.

I have a 90 TBI 305 that runs decent until warmed up. After the motor warms up and you cut it off it cranks like the battery is going dead. Sometimes it will not crank at all. Let it sit for a few minutes and it will start. Is there a way to test the ignition control module and the coil?

Any other ideas?

try retarding the static timing about 2-3 degrees

I am running a affordable fuel injection harness and chip. For shits and giggles I put in a spare computer I had sitting around and so far it seems to have fixed the problem. The motor is also running better and idling around 8-900 rpms instead of 1400 or so like it was. I have read about a couple other people having problems with the AFI chips.

BATTERY CABLES AND CONNECTIONS !!

My GMC did the same thing when I fist got it. timing was fixed with a new dizzy and correct setting. still acted like it was out of time/battery weak when it was hot.

made new cables for both pos and neg using 2 gauge cable and good copper crimp terminals, still using the cheesy cheap bolt together top post battery terminals though.

now just a tap of the key will start it when it's hot/warm. also rewired the charging circut and main power circut to the fuse block.

old dirty connections/connectors, menas a lot of resistance, which means more heat, which means more resistanceit's a spiral from there......

If the spare CPU fixed it, you need to reprogram the startng retard on your other CPU
