tore into the wiring this weekend...took out almost 50 feet of wire that wasnt needed or was burnt

going this saturday to get the new engine and radiator from upnover. trying to get this together for the open invite to the flats so i made a list:

finish fixing the wiring
install engine and radiator
get new alternator (anyone know part# for GM 1wire?)
remove transfer case drop (stacks of fender washers:shaking:)
get spare 33 on 10" wagon type wheel
acquire hi-lift jack
try to find 2 jerry cans
build rear bumper/tire carrier/cargo carrier
install cd player and speakers
maybe get some 2" lift shackles for the front to level it out
get 4 barrel carb
need a tailgate also

if anyone has any parts listed above let me know

picked up the 360 saturday from unpover, so we tore into it today. gonna have to get a clutch kit befor it can go back together, disc was nonexistant pressure plate hot spotted and release bearing trashed, held great though. so on with some pics

finally got a tailgate 26 bucks off ebay... woohoo!!! hopefully have it next week and get it painted. may drop the engin in this weekend with the old clutch maybe it will live till the trans swap

Nice ride...I have a 67 that came with a hard top that vaguely resembled your's but I sold the top as I plan never to drive mine with a top on, maybe just a bikini top.

thnks. yea the hard top is a handfull taking on and off, but it will be nice for the winter and rain

side note: anyone know where to buy just the clutch disc??

ordered a new LUK clutch and a carb adapter tonihgt. hopefully it will be in befor saturday so the ebngine can go in and i will be back :driver:

well the clutch will be in next tuesday so tomorow i will be tie down a few loose ends: paint and install tailgait, paint and reinstall dash, finish up some wiring repairs

Well after three years of collecting parts and working on it on and off, i finally got it road worthy. 40 hours over three days and laid out of work one, i got it all together and working properly....sort off, lights need a few bulbs and a new wire or two, and the speedo stopped working on its first trip out. Well that was after the test fire of the new engine that sliced a hole in the radiator, but it gave a reason for an electric fan and a brnd new radiator. I drove it to work wed. from kannapolis to graham st in charlotte. Went 65 the whole way down I85 with no problems, other than tractor trailers blowing by me doing 85mph :shaking:. And it drove suprisinly well, I can definatly feel how worn the gear bow is, hopefully i can scratch up a power steering gear soon. I will get some pics up when the internet starts back working at home!

Took it to mooresville drag strip thursday night:flipoff2:, wanted to beat on it some to see if anything would brake. Luckily it held together and pulled off back to back 9.70 at 70 mph. I was pretty happy with it, you know considering what it is. I think with a good 4bbl and an air filter thats not stopped up it would go low 9s if not 9.0 hehe..... pics are atill to come!!

thanks, my sister-in-law lives near you so were down on occasion, maybe can swing by and check your rig out next time we are down. Im picking up a disc front axle next payday hopefully so i guess i will be looking for a power booster, other than that it is just parts for the suspension, maybe a set of stock yj's for the rear. I think after get the front suspension we talked about built, im going to SOA the rear axle on yj's and french the hangers to match ride height

picked up a power steering box saturday and tie rod, installed the tie rod yesterday and drove it to work today. it drives a thousand times better than it did with the s shaped tie rod. hopefully get the box on this week and to URE saturday!!

headed up to URE today, had a great time. wheeled for about 3 or 4 hours. dont really know what trails we were on, maps not great and trails not marked well.

jeep done really well only broke a few things:
busted 2 shocks, cracked the frame on right side in front of crossmember, ripped out the left inner fender, banged up the right fender from tire contact, ripped out all the rear mounts in the hard top, and i took a heck of a beating from the steering (manual steering and no stabilizer)

along with the things i have to fix found some stuff that needs inprovment:
suspension rides like a wagon (will be doing radius arms and coil overs up front SOA on YJs in the rear), better brakes (picking up a disc brake front axle in a week or so), power steering (need to install after i fix the bracket), run a quieter exhaust out the back, locker up front, bumper for rear, and needs to crawl better (sm420 swap when i can find one)

now some pics

packed up ready to head out
