I have always found the people that fuss about Evarts are the ones that have never stayed there. I've never met a more wonderful people in my entire life. People that have nothing and will give you what little they do have if they think you need it.It’s all a matter of personal opinion but the main point I’m making as far as Evarts is people see that dumpy little town and assume they’re gonna get robbed and I just haven’t experienced that or anything shady, and haven’t even heard of it happening in years of going there

Larry's welding? He welded up motor mounts for my samurai while it was in the campground using my gooseneck as an engine hoist. He also made up a driveshaft for my brother that would "get you through the weekend" which is still in his Toyota like 5 years later.Same here. Always have stayed at the “hut” and never had an issue. Gas, food, friendly folks and trails right there. Even had a local welder dude remove a broken stud out of a d60 front axle with his welder to save the day @upnover.

Guns are illegal in the park at Harlan. The Evarts side is a lot quieter, in my opinion, even if you do have to deal with some of the trash (which I've personally never much experienced). Just make sure you're packin on the trails, I reckon...

Never been to windrock. Hoping to sxs up there this fall. Harlan used to be my jam and we'd go every couple months. Always stayed on the evarts side. Rented houses, rv behind the dairy hut and also the cabins (sheds) above buddies. Moonshine is always available if old Tommy-doo is actually still alive. Sells it right out of his trunk, drunk as hell and right in front of local police.
Larry's welding is legendary and also built a driveshaft for a friend that outlasted the rest of the jeep. Charged us $20. We gave him $100 and made his day. On another trip I fubared factory stamped uppers on my tj. Was building new arms in the driveway at the rental house. Larry stops by cause he saw me welding and asked if he could help. I needed holes drilled accurately on a press. He took the arms to his shop and showed up 15 min later with them COMPLETELY finished. Got to be the best guy ever to do maintenance at the mine all day then come home and help out the tourists.
Had a cell phone stolen waaaay back in the day (flip phone) before evarts even had cell service. That was ironic.
Ohhhh the ladies of evarts! I'm pretty sure you can get whatever your kink is for a carton of smokes.
Man I miss that place lol.
They were stout for being welded with a 110v mig on a 50ft extension cord lol. The exit of grapevine taco'd the factory ones. Too many wheelies. Those same control arms served me well on many trips to Harlan and were still going strong the day I sold it!
