Harlan County Black Mountain OHV Park To Expand

Saw this on FB, great news in a time of mainly bad news about loosing places to ride.

Sounds like great news. I know a lot of people that have been running the same trails for many years now and can't wait for some new ones.

Awesome.
If this is the property I think it is, we got a chance to see it when we did the first ECORS race there.
It will add a lot in terms of logistics and has the potential to create a loop back into Evarts instead of go up turn around and come back.

Great to hear. If they get some milder / moderate trails, I'd go back.
Explanation : When I went, & it has been 2-3 years, The Trails I saw, were "my rating", a D4. or you really needed 37" tires & full lockers. You've got the gravel road, anyone can travel on, & some Trails started out easy, & got harder as you proceeded. I would prefer to stay on some Trails that 33" & 1 locker could handle. Now, That was the trails, I was shown, if there are milder Trails, I'm unaware of them.

A loop would be great! Harlan is my favorite place to wheel. Its relatively close to Asheville and has plenty of trails.

There are tons of places to explore with 33's. I had a TJ with 33's one year and had a blast. Trails 15 and 16 are good ones along with 31.

From the way I read the article the land will be free to them, but I'm scared they will use it as a reason to increase the fees. Also I wonder if they will do events for the opportunity to be the first on a trail and name it.

Man I have had my sammi on 33s up there a few times and had a blast!! There seems to be a way for mostly stockers to get to the end of all the big stuff when riding with...well big stuff.[emoji75]

Gubni the new addition will not be a reason to raise the fee. Which is very cheap I might add.
Also this new addition is on the north side of the park. In reference, its next to putney campground. Has one small property owner between us.
If you ever ran the 10 mile trail, It will be opened up with some changes.
