Harlan, KY ride

Some of our club members are going to Harlan, KY to ride at what is suppose to be one of the biggest off road parks in the south east. It is memorial weekend. Info can be had at www.kymc.org in the forums. There will be several vendors there including our shop and lots of fun stuff going on.

Just got back from riding there this weekend and I must say the trails were awesome. Definately want to head up there again soon....

not sure what ride(s) everyone is planning to attend, but based on mapquest its ~6.5hrs for me to get there from Raleigh. Thats actually about the same as Tellico. Definitly on the todo list as soon as i get a tow rig going...

not sure what time... but EARLY Friday morning for us as well.

checked mapquest yesterday, (they/it) said 7.5 hours from wilson, but showed taking 40 to Winston Salem>77>81>23>421... up through virginia. What's the shortest way to get there? seems that taking 40 to Winston Salem>421 the entire way would be, but not sure. Is 421 a four-lane hwy the whole way?

While 421 might be shorter-take 77, 81 way-it's faster to Bristol. 421 sucks when you get past Boone.

So where are people staying? I called and all the camp sites seem to be booked. Paragon is pushed off for another weekend so I would love to tag along and run some blacks in harlan.

They have a field reserved for this event, everything will be based out of that field. They'll have a band Sat. night and a raffle.
We are heading out sometime Fri afternoon, hoping to setup camp before dark.

We are camping at Harlan Co. camp ground, showers and the trail head goes right out of the camp. Jim and I just put a fresh set of 2" .385 wall lower links on the buggy with no adjustment spuds to bend, so it's ready for a thrashing.

What about trail rides? I can't find anything about orgainized rides, it looks more like a show up and run what you want kind of deal.

That's exactly what it is. No tech inspection, gotta have this to run this trail BS. Run what you want with whoever you want.
