So I was in Harlan on the 4th as always and it was very dead. I think I saw maybe on YJ on the trails all weekend. I saw a couple rigs in the Putney Campground but that was it. I saw noone out there on Wednesday and only a small group of side by sides on Thursday. Friday and Saturday besides us I mainly saw side by sides. I usually see some of yall out there mainly BDB. Is there a Harlan boycott going on?

The last several times I’ve been to Harlan we’ve barley ran into others. Other than a few SxS and full size group of a few, pretty much have it to ourselves. Maybe that’s why I love it so much.

Everybody bought boats during 'rona...so they were all out on the water this weekend!

95% of them were in Carteret county. Traffic has sucked here ALL weekend.

Every year for the past 5 or 6 years I’ve run into multiple large Jeep groups. I know they started closing the Evarts Gate after the problems last year. Wondering if it’s related or if all the post you’ve made have people going elsewhere.

It was PACKED for OSCAR (last weekend of April). I've never seen so many campers on the Putney side, all cabins were booked way in advance.

But was it all side by sides? It was this past weekend.

For the first time in 20 years, the BDB was not at Harlan on July 4th. Reasons are as follows.

Paul.
GF's mom had a stroke and is staying with us. My daughter had a miscarriage. And i've got a blown out ORI.

Shane.
Rolled his rig HARD a month ago. Concussion and ambulance ride ensued.
No wheeling for 6 to 8 weeks.

Grigg.
SRRS racing has tore his rig all to shit. Again.

Chip and George were planning to go but the the threat of rain shifted it to AOP.
Then that was cancelled.

So i stayed home, drank a lot of beer and cooked out with my family.
The end.

I'll be there next weekend. Haven't been in a while, I'm curious to see how the trails are.

There's a big group goin up starting next thur (I think) @CLRracer is part of it I think.

No I'll be at The Cove Campground for the Fullsize Takeover

I'm ready to get back to Harlan though, I haven't been since I was there with you.

There was talk of a trip in August, but only two of us really committed to it and the other one had to back out so I'm going to the beach instead. But I still have some open weekends if anyone wants to go let me know.

Jay tagged me about the harlan trip but I didnt follow it very closely.I guess it shows.

I doubt that lol. Harlan is still my favorite. Although Ivy Branch could sneak up there once I really get the layout of the place known better.

Myself and many others I know avoid going during events. So if you were there for the XJ dumpster weekend or whatever maybe people planned around that. I know I specifically choose when/where I ago wheeling to avoid such events.

In addition to that theory, SxS are really, really popular these days. I see more and more these days. Many have switched over. Some come back to crawlers and many don’t.

But more than anything I think the 4th is just a popular weekend to be around some water. I’d say Harlan is just fine. I know the campgrounds are pretty booked up on the Putney side

It was even or more full size from what I saw, but I came in Friday night and Saturday was forecast solid rain so many may have rolled out.

Sorry to hear about all that. Hope everyone recovers well. Sure missed running into you all and watching the fun.

Putney was mostly full but I have seen it much fuller. I've been attending the Cheroke Crawl for 18 years, the last 11 in Harlan. It just seemed more dead and more over run with sxs. Last year however was one of the smallest because of corona.
