I've heard good stuff about the Macs equipment but as @Ron said, they likely come off of the same assembly line as many other, more affordable options.

The strap material of my Mac's straps looks different than the cheap straps at Northern.

I'd go with 8' too.

I have a set of S-Line Auto Tie Down Straps and Axle Straps. Also USA Made.

I always strap from the frame to the trailer and do not cross straps. I keep them as short as possible while pulling at angles to keep the vehicle from being able to move on the trailer.

I also use s-line straps. Got them online from northern tool. Would buy them again when needed.
