Won't know for sure till I get my Jeep back from the shop, but currently looking for a place in the High point/Greensboro area to do a head gasket job. Of course I want a good deal, but quality is more important to me.

Just picked up the jeep from the shop and asked them about the leak and he said that it was more of seep out the corner towards the back. Wasn't enough to really worry about right now and isn't even reaching the ground, but I'd like to have someone look at it and get a 2nd opinion.

Anyone used AAMCO or Beamer Tire in high point?

Also, I guess most shops are going to charge to even look at it? I've always used the same place and they never charge to diagnose anything. Just hate to spend $100+ to have them diagnose what I already know (even though, I know they just want to make sure) and then if their quote is too high and I choose to not use them for the repair, then I'm out the money and then on to the next shop, but I do understand people don't work for free and that's their time.

Beamer can’t keep a mechanic, so know you’re liable to get anyone they can get in there that week from what I hear. And aamco, just no! It’s a wanna be trans shop. Honestly take it to the dealer, as most shops are now charging dealer pricing. I personally say if you can live with it and are smart enough to keep an eye on things see what happens over time.

wow really? My brother uses Beamer in Greensboro and loves them. I talked to Ronnie in HP and after talking with him, he seems to think I don't have a head gasket leak at all giving there's only 60k miles on my jeep. He wants me to bring it by on Monday and let him look at it and do a pressure test and he told me he would be doing the work.
Here's the thing with me... If I know something is wrong and can/will potentially get worse, its going to drive me crazy till I know its fixed. Not wanting to drive on trips in fear of breaking down far from home, etc.

I'm just trying to find a shop that will diagnose it, make sure that's what it is, and fix it right for a decent price. County Line Automotive is still on my radar, just trying to see if I can find a reputable shop a little closer.

Beamer did a pressure test. Confirmed that it is the head gasket. $3500.

I asked him if that included everything even machining and he said they don’t machine the heads anymore… he said they use a straight edge to make sure there isn’t any warpage. Does this sound right?

I’m gonna call the dealership and see if they can assist me in any way since I’m only 600 miles past 60k miles. Also going to call county line automotive to see what they are at with price.

If you have a good relationship/service history with your dealership they may do some good will assistance on the head gasket job. However they will probably want to do their own diagnostic tests so don't be surprised when they want to charge for the diagnosis.

If you don't have a service history with the dealership, don't be surprised if they don't want to help you with being out of warranty.

Honestly, I’ve always taken my jeep to Crown (now Greensboro CJD) so I don’t know if they would consider me grandfathered in since most of the service records were from Crown. I called them and left them a message so I’ll see what they say.

Still have not hear back from dealership. Another shop referred me to another shop and they told me 4k.

Waiting on to hear back from another shop to see what their pricing is. County line auto is next for me to call

chilton labor guide. I’d be curious what all they are replacing other than the gasket at that price. Especially with no machine work.

Its coolant. I've had a couple conversations with myself on just letting it go and worrying about it when it needs to be done, but my brain don't work that way lol Its always int he back of my mind and I know I won't feel better about it until I know its fixed., but I also don't want to get ripped off, but this might just be what it costs...

My 2 cents.
Since it's seeping externally, I'd let it ride until such a time it required repair. Seems the financial side of it is an issue (based on this post).
Save the coin, top it off occasionally and let it ride.
Internally, whole different conversation.

Might I suggest another alternative to you.....carvana
