As some of you know my 5 year old son Camden has liver and kidney disease. He has been granted a make a wish trip and chose NYC to see the Empire State Building where King Kong lives!! We leave Tom night around 6. We have some free time and I have not been since I was 13 and really do not remember. Any good ideas on places to visit while we are there?

the twin tower memorial looks really neat i would like to go see that, and yankee stadium would make the list also, have fun!!!!

scared to death!!!!!

Diddo what JC said and make sure you keep your eyes open the city never stops and things seem to move faster than anywhere else. Hope Y'all have fun and Camden has a blast seeing King Kongs house...

I think this would be the 'have to do' hit list. Along with the 9/11 memorial. Beyond that, might want to see if there are any kid friendly shows he might want to see at Radio City Music Hall. If he's a nerd like me, the Natural History Museum was pretty cool. If you have anyone that's in to art, might want to check out the Met, Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim. Some of the Art stuff is down right weird, but the classic/historic stuff is cool to see. Get a frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity's...other places have them too, but Serendipity is 'World Renown'. Dylan's Candy Bar (owned by Ralph Lauren's daughter) might be worth checking out too for a kid friendly experience, a bit of a tourist trap, but no worse than anything else on the list.

Edit...you can spend a fortune at the restaurants...I don't think they're worth the hype personally. I found eating from the street vendors was much better tasting and significantly cheaper. Same deal with the pizza...find a place that does .99-1.99 slices and you'll be far happier than a fancy sit down pizza place. If you like Greek food there's a great gyro/souvlaki cart a block or two up from the MoMA. Can't remember the exact location, but there is a worthwhile diner near Carnegie Hall...called The Diner...Jerry Seinfeld frequents it. And probably the best Burger I ever had came from a place called The Counter...it is a TINY place, and it fills up quick, so go there for an early lunch.

Ditto on all the places JC noted. Spent a lot of time there the last few years and you really cannot run out of stuff to see. Have a fat kid moment and hit up Magnolias Bakery or Crumbs while you are there. PJ Clarkes has some awesome burgers. The one in Lincoln Center is where we usually went. The Central Park Zoo is pretty cool as well and isnt usually too crowded. I'll never forget my first trip up there about 4 years ago now when we were grabbing drinks on top of the Hudson Hotel and could see the lights from the WTC Memorial towering above all the other city lights.
