heads up for twc road runner customers

I'm still failing to see why I'd really need 10 mbps at home. Very rarely can you actually download from any sites at anything close to that speed.
I guess maybe if you had several PCs sucking bandwidth at the same time.

time warner cable is wanting to steel all the customers they can get. i know, i work for twc. just got out of a meeting in wilmington yesterday talking about the upgrade. as long as you have a 5121 or 5220 mta or one of the black motorola modems, you should be good. we have had to switch the old white motorola out at a couple of customers already. they would not take the update. its a marketing scheme to attract more customers, but like ratlabguy said, unless you have like a mega network, youll never put a strain on the download or upload. its pretty much a waist!

I completely disagree.
I regularly curse profusely at the stupid upload cap.
Both for work and games.
anytime I have large files to upload I tend to wait and do it from work. (Upload at 200-500k/sec instead of the 50-100k at home)

also for downloads, it's not abnormal to have 2-4 downloads going, and each of them caps out. Bleh.
Then again, I'm not exactly a "normal" user.
I'm not the guy they want to lose, but I'm not their "ideal" customer either.

I wish I could get TWC around here (STUPID CRAP CHARTER! I HATE YOU.)

Honestly Charter makes me want to go directly to satellite and DSL, and never mess with anything cable related again. They blow. We have this nice Video On Demand service. Yeah right, the damn thing hasnt worked in over a year, and I finally called them about it 3 days ago. "Im sending a signal to your box, it should reset and your VOD service will work within the hour"

Bullshit, it still gives me a "Code 403". I hate charter. :poop:

lol...faster? TWC? thats good, if your not sharing the pipe WITH THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD!

Why then does the new DVR firmware bring the suck with such authority?

It's better than the one from a few months ago!!

as for bandwidth, I can regularly hit the bandwidth limit on both up and down on many decent sites.. more is better!

i work for twc and having dealth with all the updates an dsuch i can honestly say that althought the "new" maestro sucks, it's better than what the competition is using... and the speed update rules, even for those who don't take full advantage of it... go to dsl and see how you like the speed... ugh... twc doesn't have to steal customers... they jump in twc's lap!

I peg mine out all the time for 12+ hours at a time. For tv I use dish, much, much better hardware and content.

niiice, 812KB/sec on downloads now.. :)

(went to speedtest.net and saw 7015kbps download, 364kbps upload)

I'm seeing 3600K/sec on downloads and 360K/sec on uploads. It's not sluggish but hardly 7000K/sec. I still have the original Sufboard SB4100 modem too.

I wish TWC would go ahead and buy ATMC.. this local crap blows... Phone/Cable/Net all 1 company down here.....

It also appears they increased the cap for the earthlink users that share the TWC network also. The only reason I am with earthlink is because since I have dish it is 41.95 for earthlink where it was 46.95 for rr, so I went for the cheaper one, but I still get the fast twc network.

could this be whats wrong with my wireless, i have a tp link wireless router and i guess since tuesday it will brodcast but i keep lossing the signal, house comp is fine from hard line, and i have a sb4200 modem and its white. I am clueless

tested using greensboro's test site from wilmington....

Time Warner Cable RR LITE:

1489 down / 159 up

if i did any downloading of huge files or any uploading i'd probably go back to regular RR but i don't so i'll stick with the $29/mo package :)

Probably Chase. I have a friend having similar issues, he's also using the sb4200. Call TWC and tell them to send you a new modem.

I've got TWC here at the beach, I just did the speed test off there site.

It is showing
9338 kbs Down
1773 kbs Up

It has always been a smooth running cable service for us.
