Health Life Hacks

True statement…anytime my wife starts getting a little cranky I always tell her a little D can go a long way.
And a ceiling is a floor if you believe in yourself.

Yeah, until an invasive basal cell carcinoma leaves a 1" diameter hole in your cheek and you have to go for two surgeries as a result. But yeah.
Sorry you went through that. I had to have Mohs surgery for a basal cell carcinoma next to my nose when I was 25. I blamed going from spending time outside like a regular human to spending time in a full-time office job but YMMV. The research says 15-20 minutes a day is enough for vitamin D and there are always supplements.

3. Eat mainly whole, unprocessed foods. But, I also won't turn down a cookie 😂
I've been trying to make a conscious effort to eat less to no processed foods. My question is cheese conciderd a processed food? Not cheese wiz or velveeta or craft singles but just regular shredded cheddar or the like.

Cause if it is I definitely eat at least one processed food.

I personally love cheese, so it gets a pass. (Especially in the cheese dip form with tortilla chips) 🤣

No, that's a whole food.

true cheese - id say - is a whole food.

The problem is most commercial cheeses aren't.

For example you mention shredded cheese specifically. Shredded cheese is coated with a chemical to slow down mold growht, and a different processed ingredient (usually corn starch) to prevent it sticking together.
The it is all filtered through food coloring for even color.

I've been reading a little bit on these "forever chemicals" that we are seeing in things we consume and things like Red40 dyes that they are seeing a connections with kids and ADHD. Then the whole article that just came out about erythritol being linked to an increase risk in heart attack and stroke. It just has me thinking not only about the things that I consume but also what my child is consuming. Any of you set out to eliminate foods and drinks that have all these things in them? I mean, how can you unless you grow your own food?

I mean its everything from not drinking bottled water because of micro plastics that breakdown into the water, to toxic laundry detergent, to shampoos and body washes, to plug ins to make your home smell better, all containing chemicals or additives.

Convenience is slowly killing us. All these miracle products that were developed post WW2 are all bad for you and lead to cancer in some form or the other.

Some, if not most, shredded cheese contains cellulose to keep it from sticking together.
That's a fancy name for micro-sawdust.

I noticed this a few years ago and started shredding my own cheese. It would melt better and made a better finished product. We shredded out own cheese for years and would notice we'd have to bag it and freeze it to keep it from growing mold where the pre-shredded cheese wouldn't. But lately ;

we've been choosing convenience and buying the pre-shredded stuff. Need to get back to shredding our own.

See this is something that I can easily change. not buying shredded cheese and shredding our own takes a little bit of extra time, but honestly, so much worth the peace of mind. I didn't even think about shredded cheese being an issue.
