To start, 83 cj7 ,originally a 4banger 4speed. Now a 304 auto tranny. It has a large radiator about 18 x25 3 core with an electric fan. Fan is about 14" in diameter. Also has a tranny cooler in front of the radiator. Riding around the yard in low range teaching my daughter to drive , it will run temp up about 230 degrees.. If I install the stock fan blade back do you think it will cool better? Stock blade is about 19.5 " in diameter. Previous owner did the swap and I am trying to work all the bugs out. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Have you checked the Tstat and made sure its full of coolant after it opens?

Made sure the water pump is working?

If all else is well, the fan is kind of small for that large a radiator. If you do go back to the stock mechanical, make sure you have a shroud around it or it will not work as well as the electric that is in there now.

The strange part is that playing around in low-range in the yard is not much load, so as long as air is flowing I would think it could keep the temps under control. Does the electric fan cycle on and stay on as long as the temps are up?

Everyone should pick up a copy of the August 2014 JP Magazine! It has the Best "Cooling" article in it, I've ever read! And I even learned a few things!
But for the moment, you have other problems than fan size! You'll have to start narrowing it down, like, full of coolant, next, check out thermostat, ect, ect. LOL
