Helluva paint job!

Toyota axles are plenty tough for stock engines. Less power= great MPG (I get 20+ w 33s) for a DD thats also a great, very tough, and functional offroad truck. I've never had axle problems w my 84 in 27 yrs. The axle diam. Is the same as a Ford 9". Nissans of that vintage are crap IMO. My boss bought a new one, and it was always in the shop and getting stuck!!

Your referring to ring gear size? not axle size. My bosses was a shortcab 4cyl,5sp 4wd, not sure the year but identicle to the "Toyota" in the OPs pic. I'm sure the v6 trucks were better offroad than the 4s.

The V6 is only as good or better (maybe) if it has been SAS'd. And that is just to start with. I actually prefer the 3RZ 4 banger over any of the V6's Toyota put out during that era, especially the 3.0. When and if my 22RE gives up the ghost that will be the replacement.

i think the axles are 1.5in 31spline in those trucks, and i love the 4.0in my 08 but in early mini trucks id rather have a 4banger whether its nissan, toyota or whatever

The Yota axles are 30 spline and true once you get past the 4 banger on the factory Yota stuff you start breaking things. That's why they are crawlers, it's mostly gearing and good engineering with the Yota stuff if you are not running tons. And then it is $$$$$$$.

yeah stock nissan axles will hold 35s with a v6 and 37s if you drive a 4banger right, they would hold 37s all day if someone would make chromos though
