Looking into some helmet style cameras and wanna see if anyone has any input in them. I'm looking at the GoPro hero or the contourROAM. Really wanting full water proof for trail riding and maybe some wakeboarding shots, but mainly for riding my motorcycle. Both have some qualities I really like but wanna see if anyone has any hands on experience. Thanks:wheel:

reminds me of that guy who had a video camera installed in place of his fake eye.

Yeah the GoPro seems to be what everyone uses, but the contour looks a little sleeker and is $50 less. But kindof seems too have that much less in features.

I haven't used one myself, but from what I heard from Ricky B and Patrick, they produce some great footage. If it were me, I'd spend the extra $50. Also, the contour doesn't look like it'd take a beating real well. I've seen the GoPros fall off during races and bounce around the cabs and still be fine.

A couple of people in my group including myself use GoPros. I have the HD version but don't even use 1080. The menu to operate the camera is aweful.

Other than that, it works great. Lots of folks are using the Contour though, it looks easier to operate.

Wish I would have spent the extra money on more mounts than upgrading to the HD version.

I have the GoPro 960

I have the GoPro 960 and its a great camera. Shoots in 720 and makes for some great youtube vids. heres my channel on youtube for some of my vids http://www.youtube.com/user/tubesurfer828?feature=mhee . The 960 comes with 2 different backs pieces for the camera case which you can swap out to make it waterproof or get more sound. I will upload a vid we shot earlier in the year to show how its waterproof.

You cant go wrong with the GoPro.

GoProis deffinitely what I'm thinking but the contour has the sweet slide to turn on and it starts recording. That would be good for when I have my gloves on riding. And the Gopro uses AAA or some removable battery, but the contour has internal memory, correct?, so i'll be stuck recording only 4 hours til I can charge.

GoPro HD has internal battery. I've got a 32gig card in mine. Takes a photo every 5 seconds and puts in separate folder. You can set it up to turn on and start recording with just one push of the button. With muddy gloves you can still feel the button. If you just use it out of the box with default settings, it's a pain to turn on and start recording.

Make sure you keep your instructions on programming the freaking thing though. One of the settings will allow you to do some really cool slow motion stuff.
