compressor motor has gone out in our unit...and the guy that came to fix it says the unit is 20+ years old, and is having a hard time finding a replacement...

all the specs I could get from the motor:
1050 RPM
1/8 HP
230V
PT NO: HQ706907EM
Model: KA55HXLNS-6009

it's only a 2-blade fan, so it's low HP...

he says something about a full-frame casing? not the smaller motor units...

the unit itself is made by HEIL...but none of the info on the tag is legible...

if you can find one, call me 704-451-4812...I'm heading out of town for the week, and leaving my 5-month pregnant wife with busted A/C, which isn't going to go over very well when I call her and tell her...:shaking: :shaking:

Thanks.

Search Iwanna.com and get a window unit to leave her in the cool, sell it when you get it fixed.
There is a company here in Morganton the repairs electric motors, come to think of it, there is one I know of in Charlotte.

I got a call as I was heading to the airport...they found one in Oregon and were having it overnighted...

hopefully it'll be cool enough tonight for her to stand...shouldn't be much different than when it was 2lbs low on freon for the past couple weeks...:D

thanks for the offers/suggestions...

Chip...let me know where the place is in Charlotte, and maybe I can get the current one repaired as a backup...

Thanks.

if you were closer id loan you my window unit im slaping in the RV.. only cool 1 room but better than nothing...

thanks for the offer...

luckily, the bedroom is in the corner of the house that doesn't really get any sun...so it stays cooler than anywhere else...

the front room of the house (first off, the house is one of the older ones with a huge fireplace in the middle, and the living/den/dining/whatever are open all the way around it) has a cathedral ceiling, and has four windows that are a total of 7 ft wide, and about 16 ft tall, and are in direct afternoon sun...best money spent so far was to give them a DIY tint job!! so hopefully that keeps it from heating up like an oven in the first place...
