I've found three SUVs that I like help me choose the best one, first is a 2006 Tahoe z71 loaded with sunroof leather rear DVD 3rd row seats 133k for 11k, 2nd is 2006 commander limited 4.7 loaded with leather sunroof 3rd row seats no rear DVD 110k for 13k. 3rd is 2006 jeep grand cherokee larado v6 cloth interior no fancy options 112k for 7k. It will be my wife's dd and our primary vehicle to drive every day. I like the tahoe prob the best but the wife doesn't. I'd like to have something big enough to tow with if I had to so what would you choose. Pros and cons of all them

I vote Tahoe. I run all GM vehicles both personal and with my company. They all have their own little issues but nothing major. I was looking for a 06 for the wife (i like that interior better than 07 up) but could not find a decent one with lower miles. Another thing to look at is the z71 likely has the bucket seats in the middle. That was a must for us because you don't have to flip up the seat every time someone wants to get in the back.

Good luck on whatever one you choose.

Yea the Tahoe has bucket seats in the middle i really liked that feature, I like the 07 ups better and so does the wife but can't find a good deal on one and with us having a first child I don't wanna spend a lot on a car right now

We've had several Tahoes/Yukons over the years. Hands down it would be the only choice of the three for me.
First off you have so much more room/comfort comapred to the other two, ESPECIALLy if you are a bigger guy. For whatever reason both the Grands and the Commanders the seat seems to sit too close to the door for my taste and I feel like my shoulder is crushed against my body while driving.

I guess if you were looking for cheap the GC could be a contender, but based on what you have listed the commander wouldnt even be in the conversation. Just compare new prices of those two vehicles. Then you mention towing compare the 4l60 to the commander tranny... For my money if the prices were reversed I would stillfavor the Tahoe, given that its also cheaper that is a no brainer.

The Tahoe is my first choice but making the wife see that way is harder lol I've owned every diesel there is and the dura max has made me a believer in gm products just seem to be a better quality by far, we're both small sized ppl so size really isn't a concern. I drive a xj now and she loves it but it's not a family vehicle

I have found some 07's with 125k miles on them for 14-15 when I was looking. These were loaded LTZ models also. I wasn't ready for the risk of the oil loosing 5.3's that are out there (I just got rid of a 07 work truck that was loosing oil). We don't have kids right now and my wife only drives about 8k miles a year so we found a deal on a 09 Denali and purchased it. The day after we signed papers on it though I came across a 06 z71 tahoe with 59k miles on it for 14k. It may still be available, i think it was on greenville or Wilmington craigslist.

Here's some pics the commander is how did leave it the other would get wheels and tires and bb lift, I'll look and see if I can find that Tahoe thanks

like the GM stuff like as said before no real issues, have had tahoe, Silverados, and even a few of the S series vehicles never any real issues

As your kids get older, you will REALLY appreciate the middle row captain's chairs. My next vehicle purchase will be a suburban with captain's chairs in the middle for JUST that reason. We borrowed my brother-in-law's last year to go to a trip to Michigan and LOVED it. I hate that he sold it, because it was the perfect truck for my needs.

I vote the Commander, because I own one and friggin love it! If i ever sell the XK I will get a early 90's 5.7 2500 Burb for the extra room and the ability to build the 350 for power/economy

We'll I went and picked it up yesterday and starting customizing on it today I tinted the tail lights and bottom front lights, badges and turned the torsion bars a lil

And I love it thanks to all that voted and gave ur opinion, I'll slowly be making a lil more changes to it maybe one day wheels and tires but I think the stockers look alright for now

Looks sharp. What did you tint the lights with?

I always use the rustoleum lens tint from walmart it works pretty good just make sure to clean them real good I had one bubble from not being dry or something. You can go black with them and still see light good thur them

You will quickly regret cranking torsion bars on that front end.... ;)

But congrats ont he rig looks sweet

I have an 03 Tahoe Z71 and I love it. By far the best family SUV on the market in my opinion. I had a hard time finding one with less than 200k miles. Found a lot that had over 300k. So there's no doubt they last. There are a few common issues with them but nothing major. Fuel pumps are notorious for failure. I'm going to be replacing mine soon, before we go to WV skiing. It has almost 130k on it now and I don't want to be sitting on the side of the interstate in the middle of the night with a bad fuel pump. I'm planning on replacing it every 125-150k whether its good or bad. My other half is bad to run it with 1/8-1/4 tank of gas in it. I've told her over and over that keeping it above 1/2 will make the pump last longer but she doesn't listen. The other common issue is the cable window regulators are bad to chew up the cable. Other than the leather seats not lasting, that's about it. Can't beat them. Make sure the lift supports on the rear gate are good. She didn't bother to tell me they were getting weak until the gate fell on her head the other day. Found a company in SC on ebay that sold me two strong arm supports for $32 to the door. They were 29.99 each locally.
