Hey Guys & Gals,
OK...was gonna build my Pathy and sell my YJ but my wife suprises me and says, "keep the Jeep and build that up" it's like a hobby and "you love that Jeep". So I had it up for sale on C/L and here but not too many good offers. So to my question: '90 4.2L worked engine, welded D35 rear, stock D30 front w/leaking seals. New 32/11.50x15 tires on order. Body and frame not one bit of rust, 4-5" lift +2" B/L. I cannot afford nor can I do myself a whole new front D60 or D44 so I will replace the axles up front with Ten factory chromoly axles w/new U-joints, seals, bearings etc. from 4WD. Has anyone put these in and what is your opinion on quality and how hard a job. When it says "disconnect eliminator" on the specs does that mean no more of that crappy vacuum stuff for the 4wd? I should say that I am an easy driver and will do only crawling at URE and conservative on road around town. I flat tow my Jeep to URE w/my Pathfinder.:driver:
Thanks in advance

Yes, the disconnect eliminator should be a one piece shaft to replace the vacuum disconnect, two piece shaft. Should be a pretty straight forward job, I'd be glad to lend a hand if you feel like you need some help.

Thanks

Thank you JC, I beleive I can handle that job. $600.00 +/- for both sides is doable and I am dropping from 33'" to 32" tires that should take some stress off the axles. My main concern was the quality and advertised added strength with the new u-joints, axles etc that 4WD says I will get. I hear alot of guys saying save the $$ and go to 60's, 8.8", 44's or 9" etc. That takes welding and more work then I am capable of doing.
Again, I really do appreciate your kind offer, I'll let you know how it turns out.

OK thanks all, I do agree we should buy local. I will give Chase a call and see what he says.

Chase will do you right as stated.

Running a 32 you should be just fine, Though I believe before long you will get that itch for some 35s, I did when I running 32s. So at that point the HP30 will be fine with the shafts and better U joints. I run a TJ D30 on 35s trussed with factory shaft, I have wheeled pretty hard for 8 - 9 years with out issue, So your HP30 should be fine 35 inch and under (even seen 37s on them). I would start looking for a rear axle, The D35s are known to have issues, even on a 32 inch tire. An 8.25 out of a XJ would be a good candidate.

Chase is the man!

Emailed Chase Saturday afternoon and to my suprise he answered at 1119 pm. I had the email when I got up this am. And yes he did beat the price and I will buy from him. I have sent him additional info he requested. I have read on the forum he does the right thing and now I am a believer.
And thanks for the opinions on the axles and rear D35, the rear will be the next big project after my tires and front axles.
Thanks...
ps.....got my NC4X4 stickers Friday and have them on the Jeep already....no tools, no problems ...one size fits all...looks great.
Hope to meet some of you all on June 19th.

Based on your claim of "easy driver" & 32"s...

IMHO, skip the hi-end alloys (go with a set of used TJ axles to eliminate the axle disconnect) and pump the funds saved into a replacement REAR axle (don't worry, Chase will be happy to hook you up there too!). After that focus on safety equipment (cage, fire ext., etc), locker(S), & some TOOLS...
