Got the Jeep started for the first time since May and need some help diagnosing a few trans issues I'm having with my new-to-me AX15.

The AX15 itself is a '95.
The swap was done with a new flywheel and starter from a '91 to match my donor fuel injection setup, and clutch assembly is a '95 to match the trans.
It is mated to my existing 4.2 and D300.

First issue I'm having is the starter isn't disengaging immediately after the vehicle starts. It stays engaged for a second or two after the engine has started.

Second is I'm hearing a knock while it idles. I haven't put too much of a load on it yet to test if the knock increases with load and/or speed. I've only taken the Jeep on a short jaunt around my little circle street.

Third is I'm getting a little bit of noise from the release bearing. I'm not sure if it's just because everything is new, or what. It's not a lot of noise. But still

A short video I took so you can (hopefully) hear the noises:

And a poser shot of it moved for the first time since May, because it feels good:

Just took it around the block some more. I definitely think the knock is a bad bearing in the trans. Sounds very similar to what my T5 did before it grenaded 3rd.

crap.

It took all of what little free time I had this summer to do the swap.

Took the starter to the parts store to run it on the stand. Turns out with my little jumper wired up, it lingers a little while the bendix is extended.

Sooo I need to find a solution. The problem with the OE CJ starter was the bendix stuck out beyond the starter case. On the '91+ starter the bendix is recessed but it's GM style with the solenoid on the case, hence why I made the jumper.

The attached pic is the '91+ starter, I didn't take a pic of my old starter but google has a decent one:

Got the starter figured out. Hooked the small post on the starter to the "I" post on the solenoid and it works flawlessly.

Now for the knock...
