Not sure what it is exactly, but it came off my 7.3 excursion. I bought a solenoid to try and fix this one (randomly wouldn't work) but my solenoid is for a "normal" starter, which I do not consider this to be. Does anyone know where I could get parts fpr this to fix it for a spare or is it something I need to find a rebuilder for?

Yours looks like it would use a remote solenoid. Is it on the fender?

Look at the pictures on Rock Auto. I randomly searched a 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3 and found both styles of starter.

Nope, no remote solenoid. Thought the same thing myself and went looking. Even looked at the diagram to be certain, solenoid is starter mounted.

Per rockauto research, it's a nippondenso starter where the one I bought is a Ford/visteon starter......learned something new today
