My neighbor doesn't feed her dogs, She has 3, old Retrever, Coon Dog and a 3 year old Pit Bull. they have no shelter, little water, emaciated, and have no love. She has only fed the dogs once that I have seen in months. They are not food agressive but get petrafied when you pick up a stick. Actually my other neighbor turned loose the old Retrever after he got it vacinated for rabies and it sits in front of her house and barks rain or shine. It is pathetic and inhumain. Just wanted to know if anyone wants a dog or two before I call the humain society. Both my neighbors are real red and party all the time (which is NO problem noise doesn't bother me on ebit) and dislike the law, which is over at my neighbors house atleast once a week. Unfortunently they know I am pissed about their dogs (not because of them barking but because of no good treatment) and any action done thru the humain society will not be benificial to my neighborhood standing. However my main concern is their safty and well being. Both neighbor tell me they keep loaded guns in case my land lord comes over a dispute last year where my other neighbor was jumped in the street. My concern is if I do anything but find a home for the dogs then I will cause major drama in my hood.
I don't know if the pound will take thim and kill them cause that would suck, does anyone know if there is a rescue program in NC for the cute mongrols.
Any advice would help......

contact tri county animal rescue. i'll get you the number if you need it. they are located somewhere near gastonia nc. i have purchased rescued dogs from them before and they take really good care of them untill a good home is found for them and they check up with owners after placement to make sure the animals are being treated well. Or you can take them to the humane society. they will also keep them until a good home is found. they have a no kill policy so you can be sure they will not be put to sleep. Let me know if you need the number.

Does the Humain Society in Licoln County have a no kill policy. Thanks for the info on tri-county, I'll call them after the holidays. That's a releif I love animals between My dad and I have 7 inside dogs and a squirl (not mine). They will have a new home by the 1st.

If anyone picks up the animals other than law enforcement, such as Sheriff or animal control, it will be stealing, no matter what the reason. I would call the Sheriffs dept and ask them if there is a no kill shelter, and if so, where. If there is one, call them, most likely it will be Tuesday now before someone will come out. In the mean time, go give them some food, I don' think there is a law against that, besides, they will eat the evidence. Worst comes to worse, you can bring them here to this county (Burke) we have a no kill shelter. It's Burke County Friends for Animals. It's the biggest no kill shelter in Western NC. My daughter works there.

upnover, she said I could have the dogs or show anyone who might be interested. She said that they have no more use for the poor critters. I have given them some food and rawhyde but shelter is my main concern. Luckly it has been warm lately. I first started being really concerned after the first freeze. I am happy that the shelters in this area seem to be no-kill, so notifing law enforcement will not be an issue.
I really appreciate all the info, nc4x4 rules.....

man if i'd take that coon dog but i'm like you i have no place for an outside dog. and i'll tell my friend about the pit he may be interested

man thats a shame to do those dogs like that. man they are nice looking dogs. whats the pit a girl??

i'm sure all humane societys have a no kill policy.

Unfortunately, that's not realistic for many. Even the SPCAs in many places have to euthanize because there are just too many stray and unwanted animals. The Burke County group is really good; I've done a lot of animal rescue networking in the past and have friends up that way... and it sounds like there are other good groups around.

If you can find rescue groups that will take them, that will be best. Go to petfinder.com and you can search for rescues near your zip code... both larger SPCA and county groups and smaller privately-run rescues. Breed-specific groups may be of help, also, especially with placing the pittie. They'll make sure they're vetted and neutered and evaluated for the best fit with another family.

Thanks for thinking of these poor animals; they deserve better than what they've got and will have you to thank when they find it!

i may have u a taker on the pit. i talked to my buddy and i gotta send him a link.
