I am wanting to build a yota. The first step is to figure out what I want. I want it to run on propane and I want it for mild trails, some highway driving, and general farm use. I want it to have a full bed and street legal (not worried about propane legality if any exist). So here's what I am thinking.

Extra cab (I'm tall and want/need the room)
22r motor with 20R head (higher compression -link)
33" tires
front locker
5 speed manual transmission

If I go 1984 then I get extra cab, 22R with double row timing chain, and solid axle. Should I get a newer model and convert it to propane? Should I stick with solid axle? Will stock birfields hold up to a locker and 33's?

I remember one of the common swaps is 63" Chevy springs on the rear.

I want to swap the front to vented rotors. link

I have run 36's and locker on mine for years with no problem! !!

I think you will have a very hard time finding a 85 or older (stock straight axle )

It would be easier to find a new model or one that has been SAS...

Is there a particular reason you want to go LP? The 22re is hard to beat! Especially if you are only running 33's..

I would look for an already built, rust free, newer model with an SAS.
