hey guys, i'm in a jam...

i need a new pinion nut for my dana 60 and i need to get it tomorrow, locally, if at all possible.

I live in wilmington....

does anyone know of local shops or parts houses that might possibly have one in stock?

do YOU live in wilmington and have one or two sitting around? I'll buy them from you :) I'll pay whatever you consider fair so you will have enough to cover the costs of a replacement AND put a little money back in your pocket.

help guys!

also, i need suggestions on a local supplier of U Bolts for my yoke.... as pictured here.... i gotta get rid of these straps and move onto something stronger....

if you can't think of any places in or around wilmington i still welcome your suggestions as i could have it shipped and get it by wednesday if the mail isn't too far backed up.......

Fleetpride on 421 is your friend. Call Greenfield Alignment. Ronnie may have some pinion nuts laying around. I thought last time I did gears a new pinion nut came with the install kit. I take it Danny over at Cape Fear didn't have any.

thanks guys! josh i'm not sure if he does or not. i didn't want to bother him for it last night so late.....

After a long day of 1,000 phone calls to local shops, aprts stores, friends, and strangers i took a road trip with Brenden who is setting my gears to go get the pinion nut and I think Bob is the friendliest 4 wheel drive guy i've ever met.

Bob, thanks again! I hope to see you in the future... but not for stuff like this :)

Erik,

Glad you got you stuff squared away....and that speaks volumes to the wiling folks on this board.

I am curious what Dana 60 pinion yoke you are using with the u-bolts.

The reason I ask is I nipped one of the u-joint tabs off a Dana yoke (u-bolt style) a while back. When I went to replace, I was told Dana/Spicer no longer made the u-bolt style and only offered a yoke with straps.........perhaps this only pertains to the 1310 u-joint sizes which I am running to serve as a fuse. I ended up going with another brand (which ICR) that uses u-bolts, but has slightly less clearance at the pinion nut which is irritating.

i actually put a 1310 yoke on my dana 60 :(

i did this because right now i just need my daily driver back on the road and it will be nothing more than transportation to and from work and school.

this spring i'll be saving as much money as possible so i can hopefully get my hp44 BUILT and when that is done i'll tackle building a new rear driveshaft and either run a 1330 or 1350 joint... not sure which yet. initially i planned to just use a 1310/1330 combination u-joint... which i already purchased... but i didn't like the look of it and even though it would have been fine and plenty strong it just didn't appeal to me.... i have no reasoning behind this... i'm just ignorant for the most part.

to answer your question, i got the u bolts from Bob. they are spicer number 2-94-28x for a 1310 yoke. he had them in stock obviously and i'm assuming they are still available if you look hard enough....

OK Thanks. Obviously I did not look in the right places. I assume Bob is BigWheelBob above?

you are correct :)
