Hello,

My name is David, nice to meet y’all. I was exploring Chestnut Mountain Rd in Gorges State Park yesterday and got my 4Runner stuck at the bottom of a dead end trail. Tires gummed up with clay and I lost forward traction and just started sliding to the side. I need a friend with a winch and would be happy to help make it worth your time if you wanna come out and help. Gorges state park is in Sapphire NC which is near Cashiers. Sorry my first post is asking for help, longtime lurker though :D

if you have facebook try getting ahold of someone from sc jeep addicts (they are always at gorges) or diamond back 4x4.

Thanks guys! So the only tow service I reached that would consider it was All-terrain Towing out of Franklin and they were charging around 300 just to look at the trail and 500 if they felt they could get in there and do it.

Didn’t try AAA, just didn’t believe any tow truck would actually drive down the trail. In fact, all tow services around town who had once been in there pledged to never go again.

Huge shout out to Carmon, Terry and Buck from the Toxaway Fire dept, only guys who said yes. That dept will be getting a proper donation. Just good people.

Met the new park supervisor, super nice guy but has his hands tied when it comes to vehicle extraction.

Next time I go I will have a winch...and a canoe to paddle around Lake Jocassee :D
