Ok here it goes, I have a set of wheels on my truck an the studs are not the same diameter as the holes in the wheels but the wheels are same lug pattern both are 5 on 5.5 dodge. Does the studs center the wheel on the hub or do the lug nuts center it when tight or torque. Thanks for looking.

The lugs center the wheel on a "lug centric" wheel. Factory wheels are "hub centric" and don't require the wheelstuds to carry the weight of the vehicle.

A short and simple answer is the lugs will center the wheel when properly torqued.
