having problems with starter on my yj its grinding when i turn the key i have a 164 tooth flywheel
help please starter probs on 87 yj with peugot trans

First you'll want to check the started mounting bolts, to be sure they are tight. If they already are tight, the take the starter off & eyball the teeth on the flywheel or torque converter. If they dont look too bad, then check the gear teeth on the starter.
If they are ground down on the corners farthest from the starter's motor, then it's a good idea to try a starter replacement.
You'll want to look into this rather soon, as the remaining teeth on the flywheel/torque converter will only be ground down more & more.
