The tfi module was bad, maybe it's the whole distributor but I don't think so.
I replaced that module, but now I can't get the timing right.
I can adjust it where it starts easy and idles fine, but then won't run well under throttle, or I can adjust it so it runs great, but I have to rev the throttle to keep it idling.
It's the 4cylinder motor.

Can anyone swing by north Raleigh, Leesville road area, on Saturday or Sunday to help me? At the least I'll get lunch/dinner beers/sodas or whatever. If we can get it running I'll toss some cash.
I worked on this a while back, then shoved it to the side for a while.

Thanks

vacuum advance working?

rattlecan made a good point.

Get the mighty vac loan-a-tool from autozone if you dont have one to manually pull a vacuum while its running to test it.

How are you setting the timing? By ear? If so you need to buy/borrow an adjustable timing light and check the timing through the rpm range. I'm not sure if you can do it on this truck, but clamp off the vacumn line runnin to the dizzy and see if it changes at all.
