I'm having some issues with my Dewalt 20V XR 4ah battery. It works fine in the 1/2 impact, however will not work in any of my other 20V dewalt tools (1/4" impack, drill, angle grinder). When I try and use it in the other tools the light on the front will flash once, and that is it. When I put the 4ah battery on the charger, the red charging light will flash but the yellow "hot/cold delay" light will also come on and stay.

Maybe i'm missing something obvious, but anyone have any ideas of why the battery is not working in all the Dwalt 20V tools?

I started buying some of these dewalt tools. It clearly states that some of the smaller cordless tools cannot work with the large batteries if I remember correctly.

Odd... I have a wide assortment (bare bones Dewalt 1.5AH [no lights], Dewalt XR 1.5AH [blue-tooth/button/meter], Dewalt XR 5.0AH [blue-tooth/button/meter], & 7-8 assorted Chiwanese 5.0AH [button/meter]) that work fine across all my tools.
In the 20V brush-less line, I've got 1/2" HammerDrill, 1/4" Impact Driver, 1/2" Impact, Oscillating Tool, & 4.5" Angle Grinder and use 20V to 18V adapters in ancient 7" circular & recip saws...

My experiences are similar to Caver Dave...multitude of 20v DeWalt batteries & Everything from led flash light to weed eater to big ass impact (my favorite)...no problems

They are all 20 volts so they are all compatible. Also the battery had previously worked in the angle grinder.

My son had a similar issue with his. turned out the metal tabs that make contact to battery or charger, needed to be gently prized out so they made contact. After doing that, they worked fine. hmmm thinking back, it wasn't his batter I think it was his impact.
