Help with Jeep in Greenville NC

Do you have a way to read codes to see if the computer has any in it?

Unfortunately i don't have a code reader nor do any of my buddys.

But right before it died it was throwing 2 misfire codes.
So I replaced plugs and wires but that still didn't help.
Then I took a nome light to all the injectors and they were fine so i couldn't figure out where the miss was coming from.

SO basically the coil is sending spark to the dist and the dist is not sparking? Did you try a dist? Or the sensor in the dist?

Well we tried to test for spark at coil and didn't get any so we put the brand new one on their.

What about replacing the distributor don't u have to re adjust the timing if you put a new distributor in?

I have a spare back at home

From what I have read the timing is perty much set to TDC and go I believe. If the coil is not sparking then something is not telling it to spark. Was the CPS from Jeep or one of the parts houses? If you have someone that has the same year or close I'd put it on theirs, assuming theirs runs, and make sure it is a good one.

Bought a brand new one from the parts store, not Jeep.
Weird thing was mines a 96 and they gave me a 96 CPS for ax-15 but the connectors were different than my 96 one. So i then got one for a 97-up and it connected right up. I guess since my Jeep was made in late 96 it has 97 wiring.

Could be but in 95 and 96 they were switching over and some of those years, especially 95, have little issues. Like different conectors. I have heard that there was a bad run of faulty CPS recently form a mech friend. I'd try it on another jeep if possiable or try your old one. If that is an option. I think there is a test procedure with a volt meter but do not kow it. Might try a search on NAXJA in the oem section. There are a lot of guys over there that know a lot more about the engine electronics then me.
