Ok ya'll, I know there are a ton of you on here that have way more knowledge than I do concerning building rigs, so here's what I need.
I have what started life as an 84 fullsize bronco:

and these:

and right now a budget of about $500 bucks, for starters. I need help in both the planning, and building, to put them together. The plan is to run leafs up front because it'll be cheaper.

I know I need u-bolts, and all the driveline stuff, don't really know where to get the u-joint brackets to put on the pinion flanges. Brakes can come later. Gotta get the leafs for the front. Planning for hydro steering, have a ram and orbital, will need a pump eventually.

 is on me whenever someone comes to help out.

Not real sure where to start, never built a rig like this before. Help me get a plan together. I'm free most weekends.

Building will be a ways off, I'd like to get most of the parts together before I tear this thing apart and render it immovable.

One more thing...the wife is less than thrilled, and thanks in advance.

itll be a good build, but why not just run coils like you already have up front? no sense in changing it all out if you are trying to same some cash

I was actually just talking to a guy at work today, and I think I'm going to do just that. But I think I'm going to push the front axle further to the front. It's not so much about saving money, as it is about not having boatloads of excess cash to throw at it at once. I was thinking just to get it driving, then make changes later.

See? Told ya'll I need help planning. :D

Looks like a fun project! I am only bout an hour away. I might come lend a hand if I get a free second. If anything, I know yall have lots of wheeling land out that way so we can take a break and hit some trails ha ha. Best of luck.

i think chevy lumina rotors will bolt up to the pinions and just any caliper that will fit that rotor.

atleast that's the setup daniel at USA6x6 charged out the ass for. when i bought my pinion brake kits from him thats what the part numbers cross referenced too.

Cool project you have there. As far as hydro, Marvelousone and i were talking and there is a forklift junkyard somewhere near charlotte. We couldnt come up with anymore info than that, but its a start. Once youve done the math and know what numbers you need out of an orbital you can find this elusive junk yard and score a used orbital.

moving the front axle will get you better approach angle but will increase the cost of the build, especially if you cant weld. Cutting and moving the spring perches shouldnt be a problem though.

4link mounts for the Rws are available from a variety of sources, includng mudpro and several other fellas on the board.

Dont cheap out on parts, its better spend alot once rather than a little many times.

measure your clearances, make sure you have a dual sump oil pan, wouldnt want that pinion to smash through it. Also, make sure the rear pinion isnt going to hit the fuel tank.

Olivers driveshafts in winston salem can build you a borg-warner to rockwell shaft.

if i can think of anything else, i'll post up later.

Thanks, I've cut the back "bed" part off the bronco, and have intentions of moving the gas tank, and I've got an orbitol off some sort of heavy equipment that I picked up when I got the rockwells. I just can't find any info on it, sort of hit a wall. I also have a hydraulic ram, that I picked up at the same time.

I need a hydraulic pump. I need advice on where to get a pump, and what I need out of one.

I'll probably pick up some 1-1/4" heims/johnny joints for the front here shortly, and if funds allow, the mounts also.

couple of broncs w/ rocks on fullsizebronco.com. you gonna link it or coil or leaf?? I have some new 6" Fullsize coils if you are interested and head that direction. Good luck!
