My brother in laws tjs distributor was making noise from a bearing going bad so he sealed it out with a aftermarket distributor. Now it won't run right I've looked at it and its in time has new wires cap button and distributor. It will starts but is hard to get too and it idles but rough and it won't throttle up at all it misses and skips and backfires anyone have any ideas?

It's probably off a tooth on the gear. I had the same thing happen on mine when changing the distributor. Just got to move it one tooth at a time until its in the right spot.

The distributor will only go in two ways its not adjustable.... I took the bolt out and moved it around while it was running with no change for the good. The new distributor had a cam sensor in it.

Dist is a tooth off. If ya want me to look at it, give me call.
