ok i got a ax 15 5speed out of a xj and it went into gear just fine but now that i have it in mine it wont go into gear with the egin on or off. it acts like it is in neutral but when you go to put in revers or 5th gear it dont want to go all that way over. and it also wont go in any other gear ether. is there a way to take the top of the trany off just to look at the shift forks. my jeep is a 87 jeep xj 4.0\

If it worked fine before you put it in it's probably not the tranny. Maybe you installed the clutch wrong or it's not disengaging.

are you positive you have the shifter in correctly.
if it won't go into 1st with the engine off, it is not a clutch issue.

i checked the clutch and it works fine. i think i know what it is i think i got the ba 10/5 or what ever lol. but it is still good for what i want.

does it bolt together length ways, (bolted from front to back)
if so it's a puegeot and not worth much more than a boat anchor

no it bolts just like the auto dose from back to front.
