I had a small set screw that stripped on me. After much cussing and trying to get it out, I was about to cut the shaft it was on and replace the shaft as well. But then I took a step bit, drilled in a little and put it in reverse. It popped right out.
I think the heat from drilling in and the cutting edge on both directions of the step bit were what it needed. It was far better than any easy out I've ever tried to use.
