I just bought a 2007 2500 CCsb 4wd hemi with 145k miles looks like it's been we'll token care of but are there some preventive stuff I need to do to the engine to help out? Any failures? How many miles do these motors last? I've always had diesels and a few f150 but never any dodge gas trucks so just want to learn some on them

Good, clean oil is extremely important in those. Also, keep an eye out for broken exhaust manifold studs as that is super common. You'll love the engine and tranny but you'll most likely cuss the HVAC system and front suspension wear items...

A buddy of mine had one I think it was cursed it broke valve springs and lower ball joints

From what I've been reading on dodge forums they seem like good motors, does anyone know of the transmission in the 07 are 6 speeds like they swapped in the 6.7 diesels

About 60k miles into mine. So far its needed a water pump and a few coil packs.

I also have a spare HVAC system in the garage.

My 06 had the g56 tranny. Same as the diesel.

My bad. When you said 6 speed I assumed manual.

2006 with 175,000 plus on mine. 15,000 mobil one oil, stock spark plugs every 35-40 thousand. On mine you can tell when you need plugs the mpg goes down. when you change them there's not much electrode left. Belt and anti freeze change and that's it. Also did a programmer and picked up 2 mpg on econo mode. 13-15 city and 18-20 hwy. Very strong motor only complaint is the injector are very loud. I can run some seafoam and quit them down for a few thousand and then it starts sounding like a diesel again.

I drove and towed with my 2006 for 167k before I sold it. Solid truck, mine was 2wd 2500 CC LB so it did not have the ball joint issues common with the front suspension. 2007 has the multi-cylinder shutoff for highway cruising and should do better than the 13.5 average MPG I used to see. Highway cruising steady I could get in the 15s once in a while. The truck towed great, the 545RFE was great (I changed fluid every 30k), it just had a quirk due to the funky dual ration 2nd gears that it was better pulling up grades with Tow-Haul mode disabled. I would recommend one to anybody that could stomach the fuel mileage. Follow the maintenance guide in the book but change the trans fluid more often. I probably towed 30+k miles with that truck, pulling small and mid-size enclosed trailers and a car hauler for wheeling trips.

I picked it up Friday then stayed in pigeon forge for a few days but so far I really like the truck and for having 35s on it runs good and gets decent fuel milage on interstate coming home did 13.3 bout the same as my f150. Wanna drop down to a 285 or 305 tire and think that would help some
