I know some folks on here are diehard Google users, I use Google maps to find stuff, sometimes to get me there.
This last week we went to Myrtle Beach, this is the 5th time we've been there, NONE of the trips there or back have been the same route, NONE of the trips have been less than 3.5hrs, several of the trips have required rerouting because the road was closed or under heavy construction.
I thought Google was supposed to know this stuff ?
as we were leaving MB this morning, Take Hwy 22 west out of MB, Google tells me to turn onto SC 90, about 4 miles west of MB, Then LEFT on Hwy 31E, which is Red Bluff RD. This is fine, except just as you make he left turn, there are barricades and road closed signs, NOTHING on Google about road construction, though NOW there is a solid red line because of all the cars that are doing the same thing as me wondering WTF and having to turn around quick ( it looked like a really fucked up circus parade ).
Turn around get back on 22, go up the next exit which is SC 90S and you're now on the other side of the bridge construction on Red Bluff Rd. and now we can continue on into Loris and onto 701 and head west ...
Continue straight, uh, is this the continue straight to the right of the curve or to the left of the curve ? The Road sign itself was kinda mangled and you couldn't really tell which road was which, Maybe someone did as directed and ended up taking out the sign ?
I hate that I've let myself become reliant on a dumb device to show me the way, I haven't bought a map in years.
Around Raleigh, I will use Google to find where something is and I will guide myself, faster or less miles isn't necessarily the most convenient route ( vehicle and load dependent). I've been guided into neighborhoods before, and thats not always a good thing in a commercial vehicle ( big white van with signage that has little to nothing to do with residential business, may as well say "FreeCandy" ).
anyway, Rant off, just wondering if anyone else has these problems or am I the only one with a retarded Googlefu ?
